Question/Problem/Abstract:
Are you ask your self why your connection over ado to an Oracle is so slow? It is possible that this is the solution.
Answer:

Have you ever found that a simple

ADOConnection.open

takes about 11 sec. till it returns? So don't search the bug
in Delphi or ADO. Read the MS article Q289280. There you can
find that the MDAC 2.5 / 2.5 SP1 / 2.6 have an error in the
Mtxoci.dll.

Take this dll from W2k or MDAC 2.7 and look what happens.
After this connections don't use more than 1 sec on a realy
old 333 MHz computer with Oracle 8.1.5.
